Along The Way is a double-CD collection of 33 songs, containing the very best of Joel's music over the last fifteen years, including many tracks never released to CD that have become favorites, such as You'll Be Knocking, Billy, Never Alone, the original recordings of Willing and The Preacher and many others. And for all you closet Rockers out there, it will also contain the best of Joel's cranked up tunes from past years! In addition to the longtime favorites, there is a new title cut called Along The Way that is yet another classic-in-the-making, a song similar to Best A Man Can Do in its ability to grab the listener with imagery and share the truth of God as it has revealed itself to Joel in his own trials and triumphs over his years in ministry...

Some personal thoughts from Joel: "Everyone has a story to tell along the way. This is a collection of my personal favorites and most requested songs from past years. In a way it's an anthology of a songwriter's early years; a young tunesmith just learning his craft, stretching his boundaries to find his style; a rookie producer looking for a place to "land" in a musical sense. I don't know that I ever had a successful "landing"! Whatever the conclusion, I look back on these songs with very fond memories.

These are the original recordings remastered for an attempt at consistency, so you'll hear a young voice singing with very little coaching and a limited recording budget (on Billy Waited, Never Alone, and Slave To Sin you'll hear the plate reverb we fabricated with parts from a steel yard and Radio Shack), and not many bells or whistles on these tracks. Recording quality aside, this I know: Thousands of people have shared with me how these songs have been used by God in their personal journeys. I pray the same for you. In many ways these songs are a reflection of my own struggles and growing pains; the refining of a soul under the hand of God himself. Every song, every note another step... along the way.
