I needed a song for the summer at Hume Lake Christian Camps that would tie in to the theme of High
Adventure. It had a jungle feel to it, so we came up with this fun tune. I had all the guys sing out the parts and we
had a blast- the recording is pretty rough, but the song still smiles! We had co-author Rob Bryceson do a bit of ad lib
narration at the end that featured some jungle phrases like "Hucca Mucca" (a Dennis Agajanian expression) and "Huson!",
referring to my long time friend Jerry Huson, PR director at Biola University.
First released on Pure Adventure(1989). Recorded at Coyote Run Studios, May of '89.
Credits: Joel Weldon - Lead vocals, guitars, bass; Timothy Jones - Drums; Craig

Pure Adventure
Voices calling from deep in the jungle
Through the steamy darkness you can hear them breathe
Chained and bound the captives struggle
Yearning for someone to break them free
Get your orders from the High Command
He needs to know just where you stand
Wipe the sweat off of your brow
If you take the challenge gotta do it now
chorus Pure adventure, pure adventure
Take it to the limit
Pure adventure, pure adventure
Living on the edge
Pure adventure, pure adventure
You hold the key to win it
Pure adventure, pure adventure
This ancient path is like no other
Danger lurks on every turn
Protected by your holy cover
To reach the goal your one concern
Your muscles burn, heart's beating fast
One false move could be your last
The enemy wields a mighty hand
Can't drop your guard in a foreign land
chorus
bridge Dodging spears and arrows in this jungle
Fall deep into quicksand to your eyes
Still that smile won't leave your face
(Cause everybody knows that) Heroes can't die
Skulls and bones that line the trail
Remind you of the ones that lost
Picked clean by flies they're bleached and pale
Those who failed to count the cost
You hold the key don't hesitate
The treasure waits beyond the gate
