In each of our lives there are constant temptations. We can choose to listen and give in or we can
choose to fight the current of the world and resist in a Christ-like way. Those that choose to give in to the
temptation eventually find that they become enslaved to the world and a sinful lifestyle. Those are hard chains to break.
Only by repentance and trusting the power of Jesus can we change and effectively resist enslavement. Jesus has made us
"Free indeed" and itās only in Him that we can find true freedom! I wrote this song after hearing of a friend in
Christian ministry that had been flirting with disaster by giving in to temptation. Eventually it got the best of him
and his ministry and family and life as he knew it were changed forever- lots of unnecessary pain and grief for everyone
close to him.
First released on Mistaken Identity (1986). Recorded at the office in San Gabriel, CA during the fall of
Ī85. This entire project was recorded on a Fostex A-8 machine, one of the first affordable multitrack machines (8 tracks) of that era.

Slave To Sin
Looking back you remember how it used to be
You felt so strong you felt so free
But somewhere along the way selfishness took hold
Your skies have turned to gray and the thrill is getting old
chorus You don't want to hear it anymore
You don't want to know who's keeping score
'Cause you're playing in a game that you can't win
You say your life is doing fine but your soul is on the line
The cards are dealt temptation wins again
You've became a slave to sin
That ball and chain hold you down locked within a cell
You used to know just what was wrong but now it's getting hard to tell
To live so long in darkness, you're bound to lose your sight
Freedom stands before you, but you cannot see his light
