This is one of my favorite lyrical works from the entire catalog. I believe there will be an
apocalyptic time in history when God's judgement will rain down on the land. Wherever you stand biblically on the end
times to come, one thing will be true: Men will see the likes of things never before imagined...right before their eyes.
The now vaguely supernatural will become common and immediate. God will do incredible things and I sure want to be counted
on His side on that day. My friend Tim Lahaye has written an inspiring set of fictional novels with Jerry Jenkins that
I've enjoyed tremendously - the Left Behind series. But the greatest account is written in Revelation.
Recorded in Little Peach Studios (the Basement tapes) in 1988. Released on Terror and Love that
same year.

Terror and Love
A battered flag bows to the breeze against an auburn sky
A blood red cross on blue and white where sin and grace collide
Some men were trimmed and ready for the fight to end all fights
Most were caught completely by surprise
This theatre of battle, the stage was set for years
By poets and by prophets; by preachers with their tears
Some seed would fall on fallow ground, men heeding every word
But most would fall to callous hearts the warnings never heard
chorus A still small voice will one day turn to thunder
Judgement will rain down upon this land
One hand holds his terror, the other holds his love
On his face you'll see both lion and the lamb
Pounding hoofbeats getting louder
Pounding hoofbeats four horsemen as they run
Pounding hoofbeats getting louder
As they bring with them the terror and the love
The nations turned their back on him, declared no absolutes
Passing time had hardened conscience, sin had seared it too
Glamorizing lust and greed a standard in the land
As was death of unborn children by the hipocratic hand
But now a lifeless finger grips the cold steel of a gun
This war was not of flesh and blood as once declared by some
For the slander of a jealous God many now must pay
He said, "I shall not be mocked"
There's judgement in the gate
chorus
There burned a holy passion in the bosom of a few
The sinful could not quench the flame no matter what they'd do
By the power of the Spirit they fought upon their knees
Looking for this final day; Creator they shall see
And every knee shall bow and every tongue proclaim
That, yes there is a holy God and righteous is his name
