Truth Is Truth

Notes from Joel:

I was tired of hearing the evolution argument so touted as "the only and obvious way to explain human life as we know it", that I had to express it in a way that any song-writer-type-of-person would. Wrote this one with Rob Bryceson and we had a blast laughing through the lyrics of it all. Another eighties rock tune with some grins thrown in. Dennis Agajanian did an interesting cover (country rock) of this song on Asaph Records and made it popular on his tours for a couple of years.

This version was recorded at Coyote Run Studios in the summer of '89 and made the Pure Adventure project before it was released later that summer. We used the first Sony F-1 digital encoder (very grainy sound - early inexpensive digital) on this and it's pretty rough.

Truth Is Truth

chorus
Truth is truth, lies are lies
God won't take no alibis
Right is right, wrong is wrong
So don't go walking where you don't belong

Sitting in a class of biology
Talking 'bout man swinging down from the trees
Big bang theory and time plus chance
And you're left wondering "Who's the real monkey, man?"

chorus

Friday night party times are getting wild
Friends are looking funny in their tweaked out smiles
"Take some of this, it'll chase your blues
Everybody does it what's the matter with you?"
So you tell them

chorus

You're looking sharp in your power suit
The rule is get them before they get you
This is only business so lies are OK
Integrity died so you could make it your way

bridge
And you know in your heart what is right
Will you walk in the dark or the light?

chorus
