You'll Be Knocking

Notes from Joel:

Friendships are a key factor in our lives. They not only affect our thinking and self-image, but they also affect who we are and become. The influence is profound. Nonetheless, they end up sometimes being the relationships we most often take for granted. You'll Be Knocking was about a friendship that got away, more from neglect than any other factor. Friendships need to be cultivated and cared for to be healthy and last. That takes conscious effort and commitment. My friend Dave Fenderson and I wrote this song in his living room back in 1988.

Credits: Joel Weldon - Lead vocals, guitars, bass; Steve Mills - Drums, background vocals; Katie Cox Mansfield - Background vocals; Craig Bidondo - Keyboards

First released on Terror And Love (1988). Recorded and mixed at LittlePeach Studios in Spokane, WA, by Joel Weldon and Steve Mills.

You'll Be Knocking

You and I growing up the best of friends
Our block was our world in second grade
Homework done, we checked with Mom and Superman
The screen door slammed
The Taylor dog announced you on your way
That's how I knew that...

chorus
You'd be knocking at my front door
You'd be knocking at my front door

Remember that old Ford you bought from Preacher Dan
I can't believe it ran through our senior year
Things were changing, you had your friends and I had mine
But still we knew where we could take our fears
That's how I knew that....

chorus
I drove down our old street just yesterday
It hurts to think that I hear from you no more
They say a friend will be a friend forever
With all my heart I sign, 'sincerely yours'
And I pray that someday....

You'll be knocking at my front door
You'll be knocking at my front door
